Tuesday 17 February 2015

Terry Wheatley appears at Essex PAC 26.2.15

They said it would never happen, HE said it would never happen ! Finally, the time has come. Terry's big pike captures has seen him elevated up on Neville Fickling's Notable Big Pike list to number 9. With a total of fifteen 30lb plus pike caught over his 15 yrs pike angling, forty-three over 25lb and 135 x 20lb plussers, it's easy to see why. But what made Terry so successful, other than being on the right waters? Huge 30lb pike caught from drains, lakes and reservoirs,it's been quite a journey. 6 different 30lbers in one storming season !
It hasn't all been plain sailing, Terry has been to the brink, his drive and determination has cost him in his personal life. Ability to read a water on any particular day, well that's watercraft and something that takes years to master and hours spent on bank. Terry tells his story, a much awaited talk from the Essex angler who was always a familiar face at our Essex PAC Region meetings. We can't wait !
PikeAnglers Club (PAC) Members and non members welcome to this talk and slideshow on our big screen at the Noak Bridge pub, 45 Wash Rd, Noak Bridge, Laindon Essex SS15 4BS    7.30PM  Entry is £4 PAC members and £5 non-members.

Always the thinking man's piker, Rob has an enviable list of huge pike caught, including Fenland's biggest ever (at just over 39lb).Here is Rob's amazing tally....170+ pike over 20lb
9 over 30lb from Lake, Gravel Pit, Trout Reservoir and Fen Drain including Fenland Record
51 twenties in three winters off the Fens
Twenties from 22 Fenland rivers and drains, including 25x25lb+
PAC Pike Angler of the Year 2006

Well, that's an enviable list ! We are honoured to welcome Rob to the Noak Bridge pub, 45 Wash Rd ,Noak Bridge, Laindon SS15 4BS  Be early, kickoff at 7.30pm PAC members £4 and non members £5 hot food inc.

Budgie at Essex Region 16th Dec

Steve "Budgie" Burgess rolls into town to give Essex Region the last talk of 2014. Budgie has fished extensively for pike and cats for too many years that he cares to mention and with eight 30lb plus pike captures he certainly knows a thing or two about catching big pike. Fishing away from our shores saw Steve set up his own guiding service for big catfish, but these days he has settled nearer London and can be found moderating on the PAC's own Facebook group along with other groups.
His online store www.bass-online.co.uk sees him kept busy with selling his stock and servicing reels for all and sundry, we're delighted to have him and Jo bring some of their gear down to us on the night.

So why not pop along on Tues 16th Dec for our Xmas special, Budgie is a long standing PAC member and it's been a few years since he gave a talk, the big funny guy will keep us enthralled with his tales over the years. Hot grub and mince pies inc free, Members and non members welcome to this talk and slideshow on our big screen at the Noak Bridge pub, 45 Wash Rd, Noak Bridge, Laindon Essex SS15 4BS    7.30PM  Entry is £4 PAC members and £5 non-members.

JOHN ROSE TALK, THURS 13 NOV '14

John Rose brings his talk to Essex. The 2014 PAC Piker Of the Year, probably one of the most prestigious awards the Pike Anglers Club present each year, John follows an amazing array of pikers to have won previously, including Essex's own Bill Palmer.
John started his pike fishing back in 1973, his hero as a young lad being Barrie Rickards himself a founder member of the PAC.
John wanted to put something back into the Club many years later and took up the challenge of being the Regional Organiser for Hull and District and has since enjoyed a vibrant and successful region, working hard bringing pikers together in the area. This will be John's first talk, we are honoured to accept him into Essex and this should be a great night.

Members and non members welcome to this talk and slideshow on our big screen at the Noak Bridge pub, 45 Wash Rd, Noak Bridge, Laindon Essex SS15 4BS    7.30PM  Entry is £4 PAC members and £5 non-members.

Essex Eelchasers, two new fishmeets as we await the new pike season..

Hi, emails have been sent out, giving details on two fishmeets that are being held on Fri 5 Sept (overnight) and Sun 7 Sept (midday till dusk). The idea is to raise some funds for the Region, meet up and get slimey !
The Essex Eelchasers will be after the elusive eels, both meets are central Essex area, one of which could prove a real challenge.
If you've never caught Eels by design, let us try and help out with bait and rigs etc, for old Anguilla is somewhat of an elusive creature. You're talking about a fish that can go without food for up to two years, swim backwards and climb up and travel over land. The fight from a specimen eel is certainly an experience you wont forget, you must not give them an inch. Although they eject hooks easily, deephooking is certainly best not practiced and the takes are often swift and savage, being sat over your rods is a must or you'll miss the bites !
Finding whether they take deadbaits or naturals like worm or maggot, sometimes they'll go for all three including sea deadbaits. The dropped runs or missed takes and eels coming off the hook are synonymous  with the sport. The fish are mostly unknown and stocks vary, a water can produce just when you think it won't. We take you to two great venues for specimen eels and challenge you, as an angler, to pit your wits.

If you are not a member, no problem if you'd like to join in the fun, just email essexpac@gmail.com for details of both meets. All we ask is a fiver donation to the Region once from all anglers. Speak to Sean Ellis RO now, if you have not received an email from us but want to come fishing    :)   Time for a challenge !

Big thanks to Julian Chidgey, our last guest speaker of the season

Top UK Fox consultant Julian Chidgey came into Essex on WED 5 MARCH to give his presentation on all kinds of predators he fishes for. From 30lb reservoir pike, to sharks caught in a small inflatable, Jules, 30, described his amazing angling career. Currently working on the British Lure Championship to be shown on Sky Sports, our Jules is certainly a busy man. With Inspired Angling Services being Jules' company, he offers a full guiding service including exclusive carp and predator fishing and works in the media presenting Extreme Carp and the Fox set of tackle DVD's along with the many publications he has written in and was Drennan Cup winner in 2010.
Certainly a very funny and informative talk, Julian told us about his new love of sharks and how he loves catching them in his small rib boat ! Once again, a big thanks to Julian for popping in, a real star of the angling world, we were honoured.

COMING UP...DAVE MOORE 5.2.14

DAVID MOORE
We welcome an exciting new talk to Essex PAC on Wed 5th Feb when Dave Moore travels up from Dorset. Dave originated from Dagenham and has fished extensively in Essex in his early days. He progressed onto angling for Catfish, running a tour company in Spain. He actually got a customer of his a new World Catfish record.
Moving on a bit and Dave ran into a novice pike angler in Nathan Edgell, the pair struck up a friendship that extends to this day and Nathan has certainly gone onto become an established big pike captor now. The two still meet up to fish and share some great days together and Nathan will be accompanying Dave up to Essex for his first PAC talk.

Dave in his own words promises "to tell it how it is. My own aspirations for the sport. The ups and downs of my piking years told in detail, no stone left unturned" and for those who might know Dave already, we can promise you all an absolute hoot of an evening. We even have some unseen footage featuring Nathan Edgell to get us all giggling. There is no doubt Dave is one of life's big characters, he's caught some extreme fish, is a very funny guy who we'll warm to instantly. Expect laughs galore, you won't want to miss this.

You can see Dave Moore at the Noak Bridge pub, 45 Wash Rd, Noak Bridge, Laindon Essex SS15 4BS    7.30PM  Entry is £4 PAC members and £5 non-members. Hot food included and great piker's raffle at half-time.
IT'S GOTTA BE THE BEST NIGHT IN ESSEX  !

LIONEL MILLS....a brand new talk

What's great is to hear a piker's story, from whence it all began and right through and indeed Lionel has had his good share of fish, big and small. Since winning junior match leagues on the silvers scene to talking about his roots catching pike on estate lakes, Lionel gives us his view on the pike scene, having fished most parts of the UK.
Lionel Mills has deliberately kept a low profile all the time, preferring to let others take the limelight.

We can expect some wonderful stories, the ups and downs of piking and a birds eye look at what makes a successful piker on some of the coldest inhospitable places you could wish to be at in the depths of winter ! All for the love of old Esox.

ESSEX PAC ARE DELIGHTED TO WELCOME LIONEL MILLS IN AN EVENING OF FISHY TALES AND HIS FAVOURITE PHOTOS FROM HIS ANGLING CAREER SO FAR, YOU CAN SEE HIM AT THE NOAK BRIDGE PUB, 45 WASH ROAD, LAINDON SS15 4BS WED 8th JAN ..7.30PM ENTRY PAC MEMBERS £4, NON PAC £5 FREE HOT FOOD INC

Rikki Cooper, a brand new talk for Xmas

At 36, you could say Rikki has been and done it. A qualified angling coach, ever-present at Essex PAC's coaching youngsters events and can be found in the popular "cafe swim" enjoying some banter. But this cheeky chappie from Kent has been hiding from the limelight now for a good while.

Often found fishing with Andy Lush, he has connections with him and his ET brand and was the proud winner of the Lure Angling Society (LAS) Bewl Water Chamionship!
But where Rikki really succeeds, is his desire to fish alot. For that reason, simple as it is, Rikki has amassed an amazing 7 pike over the magic 30lb mark, with all but one of them caught from tough rivers. Since catching that huge 8lb pike at 12yrs old, Rikki has a real affinity with river piking. Though his pb pike at 35lb 13oz came from a lake.

These days, Rikki coaches angling to youths and vulnerable adults as a full-time job since getting his coaching badges in 2012 and he has also guided for large groups in Europe for monster catfishing. A real down to earth guy, loveable and downright helpful, Rikki certainly has some stories to tell, in his own unassuming funny style! We look forward to seeing Rikki give his debut talk, we were expecting Craig Renwick but we'll be rescheduling that one

COACHING YOUNGSTERS OCT 2013 EVENT

COACHING YOUNGSTERS 2013 EVENT, SAT 12 OCT Essex Region 102 had a great day out teaching under 18’s in Essex how to catch pike, handle them, showing rigs and watercraft, bank safety and giving them tips on how to go out and succeed in pike fishing. The event was free for all participants. We coached a total of 37 juniors, using 15 coaches and some helpers, including Level 1 and 2 qualified coaches. A decent number of fish were banked, though even more came off the hook and it proved another exciting day for coaches and juniors alike.
Although there are around 50 Regions like ours spread around the UK, we are very proud to be right in the front line of Regional Associations that encourage youngsters into the sport with events like these. Those who are a bit unsure as to where to go and what to do, now is the time to join up in readiness for the new season. We'll be onto our sponsors for some free tackle to hand out, we'll show you how to tie your own traces and what wire to use and show you how to handle pike on the bank or if possible, in the water. If we consider you to be a very able angler for your age, then we'll put you forward to sponsors! But most importantly, the emphasis is on FUN......... SO, HOW DO YOU JOIN THE UNDER 18 CLUB ? Simple....just email essexpac@gmail.com and get your name down. Do you have to be a PAC member to join our junior club? NO. Will you have to join the PAC in the future? Coaching Youngsters 2013 March Event

This year's event was held in conjunction with the Angling Trust led Essex County Angling Development group and sponsored by Eddie Turner http://www.eddieturner.co.uk Organised by myself and Angling Trust coach and PAC member Nick Watkins, we invited 20 lads to pike fish a lake in Basildon. Coaches included Colin Woodcock , Phil Wilkinson and Kevin Woodward who are PAC members, many thanks to them and all the other coaches on the day. Unlike last year's effort when we coached 80 kids, we were not bound by Sport England's requirements for funding so didn't have to coach that amount of kids and we wanted to have a sustainable amount to deal with this time, not least because we plan to run more events over the course of a year than just the one. We did teach a different set of lads though and i have invited them to a free day's fishing with me next season, on the requirement that they get their junior membership with PAC. The ages varied between 10 to 15yrs old for the majority. Glad to say the overnight rain had not put the pike off totally and is always the way, certain swims produced better than others so we moved the kids around the lake halfway through. To my knowledge, everybody caught, though i will confirm with Nick and like this season, i shall take them out myself next season to get them fish if they did indeed blank on Saturday. The coaches were treated to chicken, lettuce, mayo wraps at dinnertime and bacon sarnie in the morning ! Many, many thanks to Eddie Turner for supplying some great tackle to pass onto the young lads that attended and stayed all day, we are forever grateful for tackle donations . We at Essex PAC Region 102 are committed to a programme that will bring on the pikers of tomorrow, that's 100 youngsters who have learnt the basics and will come find the Pike Anglers Club when they are ready. We have many more ideas (one involves catching a plane before we catch pike!) and are having great FUN implementing them every year. Monday 11 March 2013

Well, the Pikeathlon guys, Shane Patterson and Steve Davison arrived from Suffolk on the Fri night at the Winged Horse in Basildon to a small Essex PAC crowd. We'd never tried a meeting on a Fri night before and frankly wished we hadn't as most people couldn't make it it seemed! Still, we had a good night and it was great to welcome the boys, although Steve managed to reverse his motorhome into some concrete stairs upon arrival ! Thanks to Colin Woodcock for assisting on the day and thanks to Neil Warren for securing Club water for the Saturday. It started badly, no sooner had i set up the phone rang with some distressing family news and i was forced to rush home, leaving Colin and Neil with the boys. I managed to return at 3pm to witness Shane having an 8lber to the net, the same weight as Steve's fish earlier. Although Shane had loads of follows on his lures, they were not playing ball it seemed and the silvers had gone deep so fishing for livebaits became an impossible task. Of course i'm convinced had i been there all day we'd caught a lot of livebaits and pike !! It was great to meet the boys again, before they set off to Birmingham and black pudding and i'm proud to say we gave them their biggest fish after 5 days of trying around the UK and fishing into nasty east winds. Naturally, they were blindfolded to the venue and escorted out afterwards because as everyone knows.. "THERE'S NO PIKE IN ESSEX" ;) !! Thanks to Steve Younger, another great night !

A funny and enlightening talk, Steve went down well with the Essex boys as we saw some outrageous big Zander photos of years gone by as he explained his love and determination in catching the species. After the break, Steve showed us his captures from Maylasia and Texas to rivers in Africa. From catching sharks off the beach, to garfish and marlin and sturgeon. A fantastic evening listening to Steve, our region would like to thank him for travelling down to Essex and giving us a night to remember. Once again, Fen Tiger were present with their display of pike products and we held a great piker's raffle, most people went home with something! Nathan Edgell rocks Essex PAC !

Essex Region 102 Pike Anglers Club GB Nathan Edgell with one of his great pike catches (left) and Sean Ellis and Nathan Edgell standing together for the obligatory pose at the end of the evening.
The new season of live talks started with a blockbuster at Essex PAC monthly meets, with Nathan Edgell (right) traveling from Weymouth to tell his story of how he has become one of the most consistent big pike captors last season. Nathan mainly fishes rivers and explained the importance of staying mobile, traveling light and keep moving on the bank until he finds feeding fish. Of course, a very different mentality to those catching carp who fix up their bivvys for the weekend and stay in one spot, Nathan can walk miles in one session and sometimes only spends as little as 5mins in one swim, before upping sticks and moving on. River pike are increasingly mobile, so Nathan explained the need to not only find them, but more importantly find feeding pike. With hundreds of captures since last year and an amazing 35 of those being over the magical 20lb, Nathan has certainly put in the legwork to pay dividends. Fishing with 50lb braid and strong pike rod, Nathan combined lures with live baits to produce the results. Nathan is a strong believer of a quick catch and release, he gets his fish in as quick as possible and they go back in the water double sharp, only taking photos of the big ones, thus prolonging the life of pike that are the most delicate of fish once out of the water. Nathan emphasized the Pike Anglers Club policy of returning your catch speedily, to aid recovery for the fish and hopefully catch even bigger another day! He went on to explain how to hook live baits, showed us his favorite lures and as a new member to the Pike Anglers Club of GB, also explained the importance of joining the biggest predator club in the UK. Of course, it wasn’t all serious stuff, as you can see here, Nathan had set himself a challenge of getting a big pike shot with his silly Xmas hat on!
Watch out for more live talks at Essex PAC. Massive teach-in for kids weekend, fantastic effort!

Over 2 days, Essex PAC with the help of the ADB and sponsored by Baits Direct, Pikemaster and Nash, taught over 60 kids how to catch pike! Every kid recieved a goodie bag full of piking gear to get them started, from rigs to floats and lures, all donated by members of 3 different pike forums and our sponsors for the event. We taught over 60 odd kids in the end. The same 60 odd came back on the Sunday to have another 3hrs but with a different coach and if they did live/deadbaiting one day, then the next was spent luring. It was a massive event to hold, not something i've personally ever been involved with but i'm pleased (and relieved!) to report that it all went without a glitch. Nearly every kid caught pike, most of them caught their first pike and it was a joy to behold. The first day, Saturday, brought kind weather and many fish were caught to lures, lives and deads and made many a kid's dream of catching for the first time. I'm not sure the kids realised the calibre of pike anglers at their disposal and i'm not sure we could ever arrange such a collection of top-drawer pikers ever again, but here are the names of anglers that had to teach between 1-3 kids per session..... The anglers that coached were.. Sat ........................................... Sun Steve Davidson Steve Davidson Dave Horton .Dave Horton Ade Kisbey Ade Kisbey Phil Wilkinson Phil Wilkinson Steve Rowley Steve Rowley Rob Tuffs John Goble Bill Palmer Bill Palmer Ron Lagdon Ron Lagdon Mark Brand Mark Brand Nick Peat Nick Peat Ray Pemberton Tony Myhill Chris Bielby Adam Todd Mickey Cox Mickey Cox John Currie John Currie Tim Kelly Martin Todd Eddie Turner Paul Percival Tony Richards Richard Twomey

Basildon hosts the biggest pike teach-in ! (Sponsored by Pikemaster, Baits Direct and Basildon Angling)

Very excited here at Essex PAC..with the help of the Angling Development Board, we will be teaching 80 local kids of the ages 14-19 to pike fish over 2 days ! The ADB have kindly secured funding for the days and are giving up their time to bring on pikers for the future! I can't tell you how over the moon we are already with the news! All 80 kids recieve free tution.

The ADB have been offered a budget for this due to the UK rioting of recent times and we at the PAC aim to take full advantage.
This will be held on a Sat and Sun , March 3rd & 4th.
Essex PAC have selected over 30 top predator anglers to teach 40 kids in the morning and a different 40 in the afternoon, then again on Sunday. Lures, fly-fishing,wobbling,livebaiting and deadbaiting inc. This is the biggest teach-in ever seen, a massive chance to promote pike fishing locally and nationally in the media and should be a great day out for the lucky 80 kids! If any Essex kids would like to come along and enjoy free tuition from the best pikers in the UK and recieve free membership for a year to the PAC, then email nick.watkins@anglingdevelopmentboard.org.uk in the first instance, but be quick! There will be tons of prizes handed out and a free rig demo on both days .
The list of anglers will include Bill Palmer, Steve Rowley, Nick Peat, Eddie Turner, John Goble, Tony Myhill to name but a few.
Let's make it happen! Thanks, Sean.

Dietmar kicks off 2011/12 season in style

Dietmar landed at Stansted from Holland to visit Essex Pike Anglers Club and give his first talk/slideshow in the UK for years. And what a night it turned out to be! Dietmar's enthusiasm and technical know-how was a joy to behold as he gave tips on everything from fish-finding equipment and how to use them, to ultra-violet light concerning lures in water. The Euro way of fishing was exposed as Dietmar laid bare his methods to our intrigued audience, whilst showing us his amazing perch/ pike/ zander captures down the years. Dietmar even held the raffle! Special thanks also to Mark Kitson of Sovereign Superbaits for providing raffle prizes and Dietmar too.
Essex PAC would dearly love to thank Dietmar for flying over to visit us, a real eye-opener of a talk, packed with fishing tips, from Fox Int very own European Predator manager

DIETMAR ISAIASCH, in the new season!

Dietmar is flying in from Holland on WED September 28th, details to follow. Essex PAC...always great speakers!
Dietmar Isaiasch was born in 1968 and started his angling career as matchman. His extraordinary talent was recognized early on in the junior section of the Recklinghausen Angling Club and he went on to win many national and international titles. Dietmar considers his greatest honour to date as winning the first Predator Team World Championships in France in 2002 where he fished with his wife, Carmen.

Dietmar has fished extensively for pike, zander, perch and other predators for more than 25 years encompassing all techniques from both boat and shore and he started his career writing for the German angling journal Rute & Rolle; later he became co-founder and chief editor for Der Raubfisch and the Dutch journal De Roofvis.

For the past ten years Dietmar has lived with his wife in the Netherlands and currently writes for 15 different angling journals all over the world. His product development skills have resulted in the creation of many unique lure patterns resulting in him being appointed in 2009 as Fox’s European Predator Manager, responsible for the Fox RAGE range.

His trophy catches to date include: pike, 127 cm (20 kg); zander, 107 cm (15 kg) and perch, 54 cm (3 kg)

Lure night.....a success!

Well, we never set fire to the pub with the two bbq's ablaze all night, so congrats to everyone involved on that score! Special thanks to Mark Brand and Wayne Fletcher for providing a great insight into working those lures on the water and inside the workshop, it really is easy to make incredible lures from home as Wayne proved!
I think a great time was had by all and also thanks to Steve from Franglais Fishing for setting up his tackle stand and also to Bevans Tackle in Chelmsford for yet again supplying raffle prizes.
A fantastic way to round off the first season of Essex PAC for many years, we've had a blast as i hope those who've come along have too. We've got two massive talks planned already for next season so far, we'll keep you posted, just keep an eye on the blog here throughout the summer.
Thanks, Sean Ellis Regional Organizer Essex Pike Anglers Club. Region 102 PACGB.

Wow, another great night out in Essex !

Essex Pac Region 102 would like to give a big thankyou to Nick Peat for giving us his first live talk to any region, a real eye-opener in so many ways! Nick's recollections of how he managed to get on certain waters in the past were a joy to behold! And those personal photos of his catches...awesome! Nick's talk ran us through the River Wye, Thurne and Chew reservoir to name a few and there's no doubting it, he has a very uncanny way of turning up and catching big pike using the bankside and deadbaits.

Yet another whopper of a turn-out at the Nags Head, the Essex PAC organisers are extremely pleased to see our county's pikers (plus a few from further afield may i add) turning up to give our speakers the support they deserve. Y'know, you have to remember these guys are just anglers and certainly not performers or public speakers. Yet they get up and give what is basically a live show, often with a 3hr set! Respect to them i say. The Essex region is getting quite a good name for ourselves i've been hearing. Well, we can't do it without the punters! So please please keep up the good work Essex and come on over once a month, you're always guaranteed great speakers and proper grub!

Friday 4 March 2011

Crazy lure night..Wed April 13th

It's the ESSEX PAC's last night of the season! So we thought how fitting to end it with a talk from a couple of the region's finest lure lads, Mark Brand and Wayne Fletcher. Mark runs the Essex chapter of the Lure Angling Society whilst Wayne enjoys the fine art of making lures. Both are top lure anglers themselves and they will give an insight into this specialist world, whilst showing us how easy it is to make a wooden lure from scratch! More details of this cracking evening up on the blog after Nick's talk.

Thursday 10 February 2011

Nick Peat pre-event

Wed 9th March sees NICK PEAT give his first ever talkshow anywhere.
An honour for us to welcome him to Essex, a real coup for the region to boot. One of piking's real characters. The reason for waiting to announce his name was because Nick was at the time on 299 captures of 20lb plus pike. Well, you guessed it, at time of writing Nick has plundered the magic 300 now! Congrats to Nick for that. Coupled with ten x 30lb plus pike, you'll see that Nick has landed some awesome fish!
Nick fishes a wealth of different waters, mainly enjoying the rivers of England, often travelling some distances to achieve his goals.
Interestingly though, he catches nearly all the time on the bank, using deadbaits.

Guaranteed to be a corking talk, with a few piking "faces" attending, Nick is promising a revealing night out in his company. Should be a roadblock!
You can see Nick Peat and all the Essex PAC Region's crew at the Nag's Head pub, Ramsden Heath, Billericay, Essex cm11 1hs on Wed 9th March at 7.30pm.
Entry is £5 for non PACGB members and £4 for those who have affiliated themselves to the PAC OF GB. Grub is included, raffle on the night.
ALL WELCOME, PAC MEMBERS OR NOT. All Nick's memorable catches shown on the big projected screen, Nick will be using a microphone, .....and he intends to take the place by storm!

Sean and Ray look forward to meeting you all on the door!

Neville Fickling takes Essex by storm!

Essex PAC would like to thank Neville for bringing his talkshow to us last night. A good attendance recieved Neville well and those big pike photos on the screen is an inspiration to us all!
Nev's wharts and all talk, gave us revelations and ideas to put into our own style of fishing perhaps.
His question and answer session went down a treat, plenty of banter being banded about indeed.

Have a happy Xmas all you pikers ! A word from your leader...

ESSEX PAC REGION 102 wishes all our pikers in the region a very merry Xmas and a happy new year. I'll be having a tipple on Xmas day, reflecting back on the last few months and how exciting it's all been, starting up a new region. Thanks to everyone who has lent their support and to all those who have attended our speaker evenings and our first fishmeet. 2011 holds fantastic and exciting times ahead, not least with the guest speakers lined up for Jan, Feb and March. We have been reaching out now with our posters hitting the tackle shops each month, spreading the word. Last month, a dozen tackle shops were displaying our posters advertising the meetings, from Chelmsford, Stanford-le Hope, Canvey, Benfleet, Brentwood, Basildon and Billericay to name a few.
We have had all sorts of new faces at the meetings each month, it's been fantastic getting the Essex pikers together in one venue, it's great to see them all chatting between themselves. Long may that continue.
2011 will herald big things for the Essex PAC, we will be working twice as hard at getting the word out there.
Thanks guys for your support.

Sean Ellis, RO, ESSEX PAC 102.

Thursday 16 December 2010

Steve Younger wows ESSEX PAC

The Essex region of the PACGB would like to thank Steve Younger for his excellent talk last night and for stepping in at such late notice. His talk consisted of many fish caught around the world, from Aligator Gar to Tope Steve gave us an insight into his world of a real-life showing of River Monsters !
After recent talks in Essex consisting of piking the Broads and the Fens, Steve's presentation really was a bit "different" and he injected his style of humour to get the boys roaring in the aisles!

If you weren't there and was wondering if you missed out, trust me...you did!

Essex PAC Region 102...great speakers once a month guaranteed!

Saturday 4 December 2010

the incredible Steve Younger

Unfortunately, Neville Fickling has had to cancel this date in December, but has already rescheduled for Feb 9th 2011.
Meanwhile, Steve Younger who wowed the crowds at last month's Thames Gateway region meeting, has kindly agreed to pay Essex a visit on Wed December 15th instead.
It seems Steve loves catching all sorts of huge fish from all sorts of locations and i'm told will have us all in stitches too with some of his tales!

Sunday 14 November 2010

Another stonking night for Essex PAC!

The Essex PAC 102 Region would like to thank Denis Moules and Mark Barrett for giving us their cracking talk on Fenland pike at the Nags Head pub. Despite some awful traffic on the M25 that delayed proceedings for a while and must have frustrated the hell out of Mark, the evening went ahead eventually and all was good with the world! If any other region get the chance to have these two, do so!
Essex PAC 102 also made a special presentation to Darren Couchman from Cancer Research UK during the evening, left to right in the photo is Kevin O'Keefe, Sean Ellis and Darren Couchman. Darren actually informed us we hadn't taken gift aid into account, so that cheque needs to be made out again for £4000 !
